Competencies
In this fourth session of DC Advocacy Partners, participants will:
- Understand why employment is important for people with disabilities and for the community
- Understand what accommodations, modifications/adaptations, assistive technology and natural supports are in the workplace
- Learn about types of employment: competitive, supported, customized, entrepreneurial, internships, apprenticeships, enclaves, and sheltered
- Understand the vision and mission of Employment First Policy
- Understand what federal legislation gives people with disabilities rights in the workforce including ADA Title I, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
Skill sets
Partners will:
- Learn how to plan a presentation or testimony for policy implementers
- Learn how to read the DC Budget
