Competencies
Table of Contents
In this second session of DC Advocacy Partners, partners will:
- Be able to define what qualifies as a developmental and/or intellectual disability
- Be able to describe the service coordination system and the services that are available in DC for individuals with disabilities and their families
- Understand what the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Act affirms
- Understand the history and current status of the DD Act, including reauthorizations
- Begin to understand the DC legislative process and how to influence policy through it
Skill Sets
Partners will:
- Become more comfortable speaking in front of their peers
- Evaluate what makes for a “good” oral testimony on a particular issue
- Map a 7 month plan for their long-term projects
- Describe components of the DD Act and how they impact people with DD
